Sorry, no photo but : Hand was hauling a D6R wide pad on a single drop aluminum deck trl. Blade and pads hanging off both sides and trl. didn't seem to be enjoying it.

Had it walked all the way up to the step. Isn't a D6 big as you can haul legally w/o permit? Doesn't that thing weigh in around 50K ?

This can't be a good idea..........

    Comments?

if anything hangs off the side you need a permit and flags,D6r is about 40k

Having a good deal of heavy equipment experience I would say that trailer will be junk soon, the weight is not suited for that and it only damages the trailer.

Operating weight is around 45 give or take 1k

Chalupa, you see this often, the weight really shouldnt hurt the trailer tho, whats the difference between loading 45k lbs of pipe over this machine? the trailer can handle it, but i probably wouldnt have run her up to the step.

trailer will be fine but he'll be too heavy on the drives if it's right up to the step.

Gotcha all, tks. To me, you get the heavy drives, the tracks tear up the bed and the rails and he had a lot of iron elevated off the ground so it could roll in a curve and the bulk of the weight is outside the frame rails causing more stress.

It just looked like a stupid idea. Reminds me of truck mgmt. : " Lets save the cost of hiring a HH / RGN or renting one and use the step deck, we'll save money!"
