Scania v8 better than cat engines?

16.4L for one but a v8 will make its power higher in the rpm range compared to an inline 6. Pretty much all I-6 will have a longer stroke than bore meaning slower to rev but more torque down low. Most V8s will have an over square bore meaning same stroke and bore (or close to it anyways) the v8s are rev happy

Inline engines are smoother and last longer.
As for why the V8 makes more power from factory in Europe not sure.
You can get a CAT or Cummins up over 800 HP and well over 2300 ft lbs of torque.
Warranty is a big part why the engines were never turned loose from the factory that way. Another is the market here in NA

the scania 770 engine has 2720ft lbs of torque and 770 hp, what american\australian trucks beats its torque or hp?
