I agree. I think that more truckers need to speak up when they need to and not be afraid to turn down a load. Truckers need to take back the Trucking Industry.

I disagree on the overworked DBL part, ours works 8 to 4 five days a week.

Naw just doing my best impersonation of one.sevenmph Thanks this.

Herding cats here. Let's say 2 million truckers out of 10 million were fired.
Easily replaced by immigrants overseas in a few weeks. Markets might burp when freight actually consumes all trucks available instead of leaving an average of 10% of all equipment sitting on ###.
Home time for appointments outside of COURT is just not going to happen. There were a couple of times I had a interest in a outcome of a trial or two via friends and speaking the magic sentence "I have court" they fall over themselves to bobtail me there. Hehe.
If you do not have the moxie to call your DM and speak up about that appointment that is scheduled usually weeks or months in advance then you are not going to be able to keep it. In my case there have been times that truck did not move until I resolved my appointments as a company driver. But in those days there was no computer. only a cell or payphone. SInce I did not own a cell, they had to wait on me.
Well today dispatch has that nice satellite dog collar on the drivers. No wonder some people have a hard time communicating effectively.48Packard and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
I've also noticed that when a guy is a 1000 miles away he's a F ### HOLE.
When he's coming up the driveway, he's an ### hole.
When your right in front of him, he's actually not a bad guy.
Texting & emails have destroyed personal communication in my opinion. -
How hard was it to become an O/o? Do companies care about your background?

It would seem to the uninformed, such as myself, that Schneider would have a chain of command. If the DBL missed the hometime request more than once, then the offended party should have went to the DBL's supervisor and made an inquiry, such as "whatindahellisgoinonhere?"" or similar.
That is all.48Packard Thanks this. -
What I never understand it the "there's no frieght in ur area" b.s. or "there's no loads going east/west/north/south to get u home"
What u mean to say is ud rather have me sit and pick up a 300 mile load that has a great rate on it going away from home vs picking up a 600 mile load that takes me homeToomanybikes, AllisonFitch, mjd4277 and 4 others Thank this. -
Lol that's funny right there...alghazi Thanks this.

I don't work for Schneider, but when I need home on a certain date, I don't take any loads the week before that will put me too far away or leave me without the hours to get home on time.
Work with dispatch and shoulder some of the responsibility.
.
But if I don't have anything planned on my home time , I'll take that 1,500 mile run away from home and let them find my next load home.6daysontheroad Thanks this.
