I pretty much read all that has to be said about schneider orientation but a friend went to May trucking this past Monday Sept 17 in Arizona and the first day of orientation May had him do some skills test and he said that he wasn't even there on their terminal for more than 45 min and they already sent him home because while doing the skills test he barely pushed a barrel so they sent him home for that. He had to do a serpentine backing which he never did before and that is not something taught to you in truck driving school. So my question is will I have that same problem at schneider or do they actually show you and coach you like my recruiter said they do?

i did serpentine backing in wheel holding school.... hmmm
From reading some of the stuff about Pumpkin Orientation, it looks like they spend a lot of time with you in the truck before you are cut loose with a trainer. I would not worry about it starting with Schneider is prob. a good beginning
The new digital shock collars they have nowadays work so much better than those analog ones from back in my day.

i was just kidding about the shock collars, that's in humane... Cattle prods are better

SNI will give you a chance to settle in but hitting anything including cones and lines is a no no. If you show them your progressing and not hitting stuff they will work with you. My class lost 5 people the first week.

I felt that Schneider passed a lot of people who really should not have passed when I was at orientation. Assuming all OCs have similar orientations, I wouldn't sweat being sent home. You'd have to do something pretty amazingly stupid to get sent home.
As for serpentine backing, the school I went to in Minnesota taught it, but I didn't need it for my CDL test in Wisconsin, therefore they didn't make me do it. I practiced it anyway. Anyhow, there was no serpentine backing when I went to Schneider orientation.
I do know one guy in my class was let go for hitting a construction barrel, but I heard that he didn't even know he had. Should he had at least acknowledged that he done messed up, he would have stayed.
Good luck... even though I truly don't think you'll need it.blfan2002 Thanks this.
