Hi all. Im an IC with Schneider doing choice program. Have no real complaints except one. What is with the "lack" of empty trailers. You go home for more than 48 hrs and your not supposed to take an empty with you. Seems like a company this big would not have any problems with trailer availability. Just thought I would put it out there to see.

They always say they need to use their equipment they are not making money when you take an empty trailer with you for more than 48 hours, i took a new jb hunt truck and trailer home and keep them for 10 days because they give me a 300 miles load for 2 days delivery i told him nope im not taking it and he told me ok watch i stayed at the truck stop for 3 days no ones talk to me and i deadhead myself home and he was mad and he put a termination and i went over what happened with safety and his supervisor i win. smh

As an IC who lives in a bad area for finding empty trailers, I see both sides of this one - on one hand, I'd love to be able to take an empty trailer home. On the other hand, I know what its like to be that driver that really does NEED an empty trailer but there are NONE around.
I hate going to the OC's or drop yard trying to find any empty, and seeing trucks all locked up that have obviously been sitting for several days with a perfectly good empty behind them - when I REALLY need an empty trailer.
I think 48 hours is fair enough - if you're going by the house for the night or a day or so, it makes sense to keep an empty. If you're going down to the beach for a week no sense in letting the trailer sit when someone else may really need it. -
90% it's the customers we drop at. They use trailers for storing there products. You should see it in the fall. Walmart ties up pretty good chunk of our trailers.

Don't matter what company ya work for , empty trailers are always hard to find

This is So true.

Yeah, was gonna suggest changing the name on the back of the trailers to "Schneider On Site Storage" since that's what they're mostly being used for. It's definitely the customers hogging them for the most part.

Product is one thing, storage for junk pallets is another

True... But even product shouldn't be stored in our trailers long term.
My bigger issue is how they treat our trailers. Picked up one the other day that was a brand new, shiny, 2014 model. #### landing gear was messed up, had to fiddle with it to get it to catch the gears. This thing could t have had more than 1000 miles on it, even the tires were new. And even the security guys said it was probably the yard guys that messed it up. Really hate that. -
gearing on the legs raising, I think its the nature of that design. have run into that quite a bit on the G Dane and Hyundai trailers we have now. WOuld have been nice of SNI to send out cutsheets or info packs on the new trailers we haul.
Being so used ot the wabash, it was a surprise to see the different configurations of some of the tandem pins. Find the latches on th danes to be a pain too. Seating the handle can be a chore .Maybe the door seals haven't worn in enough?
