I'm sorry drivers, I don't get it.... Why all the shock and awe about a company lying to a driver or o/o?

It is a standard trucking business model to keep the driver at arms length, cold and hungry. It has been proven time and time again that when a driver has too much money or gets paid early like wed night, he disappears. Trucking is a 24/7 business and customers don't want to hear why you're not there.

Pumpkin has freight no doubt but he's cheap, that's how he gets his foot in the door, with price. I can't see how he could have choice anything. In chemicals he's used to line haul only the safest stuff and most shippers would never trust him with a multi compartment split or a blend.

The "choice program", is where you see loads posted on a load board, and you pick what load you want. Same as any load board, except these are loads SNI has contracted.
You're right it is cheap freight, but I think you're wrong about the tanks. I've never dragged one, but I've seen plenty of placards on SNI tanks.

Perhaps you misunderstand me John, shippers allow him to pull hazmat...yep they do. I'm saying SNI is not trusted with multi compartment loads , blends or sensitive customers.....

This is a much better post than the original.

I'm kind of surprised that you had this experience on the Choice program. Most of the drivers I talked to who were on that program said they were making a decent living (they weren't getting rich, but they weren't going broke, either).

The lesson I learned during my brief period as a "Fleece to Owe" driver at SNI is this: Never EVER lease with a company that has their own trucks and company drivers. I had loads "canceled" that were soon after picked up by a company driver. In one case, I had a good paying load "cancel," only to find it being brokered out on GetLoaded. When it comes to the almighty dollar, SNI is ruthless, deceptive, and just plain dirty.

Better go through those settlement statements carefully as well. Even though things like excise taxes and fuel taxes were deducted from my settlements, they were never actually paid. I'm getting all kinds of tax collection notices from the IRS and various states right now.

Amazingly, I got a letter two days ago from them begging me to come back as an O/O.

Kinda like asking me to play Russian Roulette with a semiautomatic pistol, lol.

Really????? Perhaps you should go down to Sugarland (as well as the other Nalco plants)and watch some of the SNBC multi compartment trailers coming out of the Nalco plant loaded. Also what exactly is a "sensitive customer"???????? Schneider pretty much hauls for all the "big boys" in the perto chemical industry.

Been there Yankee..... seen the SNI trailers. Ask a Nalco driver ( one of the best paid in the industry ) WHY SNI is not allowed to do their drops c'mon? After all Nalco is a major corp. in business to make money....right? Certainly the Nalco drivers with their shiny trucks and good bennies cost more than SNI right?

Control !!! Too many SNI ,Trimac ( and the rest ) didn't read the bill and cross dropped causing many problems including explosions, tank solidification and really cool exothermic reactions complete with purple smoke.

But don't take my word for it...no sir, feel free to ask a Nalco driver.

And regarding SNI pulling for the big boys in petrochem....... yep that's true along with all the rest....yes sir...it's all about the cost....... and here's the difference....

Take Akzo, they make a product that is very dangerous..... when it gets aggravated it will feed on itself. It is so bad that the trailers have 2 refrigeration units on them, it must remain cool at any cost. No common carrier would ever be trusted with this product. And why not Yankee ?

FMC makes a 90% peroxide used as part of a rocket propellant....it's pulled by the private fleet. A common carrier would never be trusted with this product....I guess that makes these "sensitive" customers.

Would YOU let SNI or Trimac or any of the other common carriers pull these products ?

What the hell are you trying to say??? Schneider does multi compartment loads for nalco. I have done about 4 of them in the last few months myself. So I don't need to ask a "nalco driver" anything. What do shiny trucks and good bennies have to do with anything?

again..what are you trying to say? you are all over the map contradicting yourself. first you say common carriers don't pull for the "big boys" then you say they do.

You Akzo example, is apples to oranges. A common carrier is in business to make money and none of them are going to spend the money to buy a special trailer to haul one product for one customer. like you said it all about money. Not trust. By the way, common carriers do haul for Akzo as well.
