because common carriers don't buy highly specialized trailers with two refrigeration units due to high acquisition and maintenance cost?

It's not a question of buy or renting the trailer. Akzo, Nalco, FMC along with the rest own their trailers equipped the way they are needed. The common carrier would use that one to pull the product.

Read my posts again. I never said SNI didn't do any work for these folks, they do....
I said they weren't trusted to pull complicated drops or extremely hazardous products to sensitive customers and I defined that.

Nalco's shiny trucks and good bennies cost money. I'm saying that if these manufacturers COULD trust a common carrier with all their products then they would rather than have their own fleet...... it's much cheaper. Common carriers have proven to plant management time and time again that they cannot be trusted. I recently broke my own rule and worked for one I named temporarily while I waited for things to happen on my truck purchase....simple, I needed a job.

While there, I was sent for a random drug screen for a major chemical mfg. that we serviced. A quick inquiry to the DOT clerk revealed that all drivers in this terminal must submit and she runs a separate rotating list aside from the DOT norms. A few more questions to other carrier drivers I see in the plant revealed this is not required of them. Likely conclusion?: My carrier did something bad wrong in their plant or with their product and this is part of a plea deal to keep the business.

    That's my entire point........

This is nothing on you personally Yankee, I don't know what you do or whom you pull for........this is about common carriers.

I pulled a few NALCO trailers out of the Chicago terminal while I was leased to Schneider..... it was a nice trailer, but in the tanker biz it was just a load to me. Specialized loads and sensitive customers don't mean squat unless it pays extra. I'd rather not have the hassles honestly. I have ran some VERY sensitive stuff for the military and a few railroad outfits (not with Schneider) and the pay was amazing, but also justified the escorts and other things I had to shell out for.

Everyone has to start out somewhere, I guess you just try to pick the lesser of the two evils LOL

Their CHOICE program is for VAN freight, not tanker.... FYI

Sorry it didn't work out for you. But I have to call BULLS##T on this one. I was on their CHOICE program for over 3 years and did very well. I NEVER had an issue that you claim. I was always paid for EVERYTHING I did. I can count numerous times I was sent somewhere and the shipper canceled the load, I had to sit overnight or something went wrong, and EVERYTIME I was paid for the wait. $300 for an overnight sit isn't too bad I think...... I just think you didn't give it enough time. It takes about 6 months to figure out the load board (same as anywhere else) and once you learn that, their freight lanes, and good areas you could have made a killing.

You stated they had good freight in some areas, and crap in others?? I am guessing this was your first time picking your own loads and not being dispatched. The industry has been that way for MANY MANY years. Freight out of Chciago to the east or west always pays well, but stuff out of FL, NY, CA, ect ect always pays like crap. that is why the loads there pay so well. Maybe you should stick to leasing to a company for a flat-rate mile instead of choosing your own runs and percentage. Some guys just can't handle being more than a lease driver.
