How much free play is it supposed to have? It’s in a 2016 Cascadia w/ a 10 speed. Only has less than 1” now. It’s right at the top. What I’d call overdue for an adjustment. Can it be manually adjusted? Any good way to tell if it’s no longer adjusting itself ( out of adjustment) and ready to fail?

There is a wear indicator on the pressure plate. I wouldn't worry about the free play if operation is ok, it has no maunual linkage.

Freeplay with a hydraulic clutch is kind of hard to tell from my experience.

Those self adjusting clutches are so useless the dealer I used quit specing trucks with them.
When the indicator shows about half wear it is actually closer to being worn out.

Quit gauging your clutch adjustment on free play. Lack of free play is only an indicator that the clutch may be in need of adjustment.

Check the gaps as you would a manual. If the gap exceeds specs the clutch is likely not adjusting. Make sure you have good linkage travel and brake squeeze.

Runs it til it slips or plan on replacing it.

I had mine thrown away when I had my transmission rebuild. Had an Eaton 2050 easy pedal installed.

I've put more in a dumpster then installed in a truck. You can have someone depress clutch, then push indicator to new with pry bar. Have person release clutch fast 3-4 times. It may adjust and indicator will show less wear. It may not (reset). In that case throw it away. Works sometimes, not all.

If it is not working well and you try to adjust it may be better or never work again. Never adjust one when you have somewhere to go and it is still working.
The last one I replaced was a Solo and hydraulic. My supplier suggested not changing to an easy pedal with a hydraulic system. It was on a Volvo if that makes any difference. Any input on that?

Been a few years for me. But in the past we always put easy pedal clutches in volvo's and eaton auto shifts.

    About all I can add.
