Does anyone know of a book or manual on how to service/repair your own truck (i.e. changing oil, simple repairs etc)? I just became an owner operator and bought a 06 Freightliner and I don't know anything about servicing it. I don't want to go to the garage for EVERYTHING. Can anyone help? Thanks.

I found the following publication which may be along the lines you are looking for:

Freightliner Heavy Truck Factory Maintenance Manual

    Item Number: STI3291 Cost: $27.00

    The description reads:

    New manual from Freightliner.
This manual provides basic maintenance information for your truck such as lubrication & filter replacement.
Please see the service manual for more detailed repair procedures.

The hot link to the page containing the information is:

I continued digging and found the following site:

    http://firechief.com/news/firefighting_freightliner_american_lafrance

The page contains the following information:
Lost your Freightliner or American LaFrance manuals?
Never fear, you can download one page or the entire manual from Freightliner's Web site on the Internet.
The site has both operation and maintenance manuals for Freightliner, American LaFrance, Sterling and
    Western Star vehicles.

The page also contains a hot link to yet another site that provides a series of
clickable links to find the Driver/Operator or (Basic) Maintenance manual you
are interested in. It has manuals covering 10 different models of Freightliners.

    cdr1977 Thanks this.

    Here's a Freightliner link.

    http://www.freightlinertrucks.com/Parts-Service/DOM-Manuals

Click on the "download manuals" button, then select the "maintenance manual" tab, then select your model and download it. This ia a free one, about 70-100 pages, depending on your model.

Maintenance manual comes with the truck from the factory. Tells ya basic stuff like PM intervals.

You need the service manual. Tells ya how to rebuild everything and how it works. Should come with engine service manual too.
