And all those things took place in one week? Hard to believe.

That’s all fine and Dandy. I’m sure you run a Great Operation. As for Me, I’m not a Team Player. I’m an Independant. It’s not that hard,( definitely not impossible) to run under my Own Authority. It boils down to ones own desire and motivation. Almost anyone can do it, but they’re looking for an easier way. I understand that. I also understand putting my livelihood in someone else’s hands, puts it at risk. If you were honest, you would acknowledge that anyone can run under their own Authority. Then you would have to sell the idea of why it’s better to work for you. I’ve worked for a lot of people, had dozens of jobs. Heard every line of bull there is, package it any way you want. A leased on Operator is still subject to you and your rules. I doubt the Op planned on a one week disaster. maybe he deserved to be let go. But if you’re truly honest, you will pay him the money he is owed. Bottom Line.

I do everything myself. Everything. It’s not that hard. I’m no Genius. I’m not an accountant. I can do basic math, in my head without a calculator. What you do is impossible without the Truck and the Driver. How many if any Trucks do you yourself run? Just one more cost for an O/O, paying you a percentage for all the so called hard work you do for them. You need them, more than they need you. They get what they deserve. Expecting to be “ Taken Care Of”. It’s your game. They shouldn’t be surprised. Might as well get a Company job. Instead of a glorified “Independent” Employee.

$50? Man, I got ripped off!

Try $285 for 10, sir. Just paid that to replace my old and cracking stuff.

I don't see where @Rideandrepair was being cynical at all. He was basically saying, and I agree, that he, as a true independent, prefers to run his operation as he sees fit. We do the same.

Over the years, I've learned that diversity and self-reliance has served me well. The less I need to depend on someone else for something the better I seem to make out. That way the only disappointment is with myself.

Your operation sounds very similar to F2F. Some guys I'm sure prefer to go that route, much less to deal with, and don't mind paying for it. Personally though, I like to keep as much as I earn, as I work too hard for it...

$285 for 10, what size were they? You just gave me a new idea to add to our diversity list, thanks...

8 foot 4x4's, beveled for coils. $26.40 plus tax in LaVergne TN.

Hardwood, oak preferred. Softwoods have no place on a flatbed in my opinion.
