How can one tell if a meritor slack adjuster is no good? Other than the obvious brakes out of adjustment sign.
On the bendix ones it should click when backing off correct?

Be easier to just go to Meritors website. They usually have tech info downloadable.
For the most part, if you can tighten, but not back off, release the pawl and back off, your good.

The ones with the button type pawl can be bad. The adjuster strips out, or dried grease makes them not function properly. The whole adjuster can be taken out, cleaned, replaced if needed.
