So I have always used the old Omnitracs/Qualcomm with a sliding keyboard (MCP200 version), and even though it’s the older version I find it functions faster than their newest version, the IVG. For example, almost every time I am in the certify tab and hit the certify button, the device loads for a few seconds. Is this happening to everyone? I don’t recall the MCP200 doing this.
Slow Omnitracs ELD Device (IVG Version)?

My ivg lags a lot also and shuts itself down a few times a day for a reboot. I’m not impressed at all..
-
The shutting down by itself is actually normal. Now if it shuts down while driving or with your key on, then there’s a problem. I have my Omnitracs set to power down every 4 hrs, but it can be changed to any time. I think it will also power up after 4 hours, in my case. The automatic power down probably has to do with protecting the batteries.

Yea it shuts down driving, idling or whenever it feels the need, freezes up here and there also..

And I thought mine had problems. Hahaha. Mine has frozen completely only twice in the last 4 months of using it. I use the battery switch next to the driver seat to force it to turn off. While driving, mine has shut off once or twice, but it turns back on by itself. If I remember right, it showed as on duty on my logs while it was off and rebooted completely.

Omnitracs has gone from an innovative, reliable partner for mid size or larger carriers to a company that produces junk products.
magoo68, Midwest Trucker and PE_T Thank this. -
Never used anything but the IVG from Omni. I have ten of them and so far it’s better then anything else in the market for the ELD. Biggest driver complaint is when they update they temporarily lose track of time and say they are illegal on hours. The two previous systems were an absolute joke trying to comply with Dec 17 2016.
There are frustrations but nothing like losing signal on a Bluetooth unit and throwing everything out of wack. Just my experience.Dieselboss and PE_T Thank this. -
Interesting but honestly it’s probably due to the overwhelming demand for a product that actual works. Installs at my local dealer has 10 trucks backed up at any given moment. Assuming they are people who have dealt with other brands and are switching.PE_T Thanks this.

My ivg used to work as fast as the old unit but after an update a couple months ago it lags really bad.
PE_T Thanks this.
