Don't know if this is allowed or not here, but here goes nothing.
I have a set of brand new, never used snow chains for 255/70/22.5 tires... what I need is a set of snow chains for 245/70/17.5
I'm looking to trade.

thats a wierd size.17.5?? are those super singles ?
-
No, they are a 17.5" small tire for either a car hauler or a low pro file step/drop deck.
-
How do you get the snow to stay in the chain, I keep trying but the snow always falls out. Makes no sense to me .I do not get why your suppose to pack snow around your tires then use chain to hold it on the tire.
RedForeman and Studebaker Hawk Thank this. -
Well theres no room to put chains on those kind of trls ..must be for something else..maybe a tanker..
-
You can chain a low profile drop at least mine has room for chains.

Open bolster, no wheel pans/covers

We've got 17.5's on our Trailmax TRD-54-T and It looks like it has pleanty of room to iron up for drag chains. I'd be interested to see the clearance on that model trailer that is spec'ed with the 22.5's though.
-
Most likely the chains are for compliance only. I know I wouldn't want to chain up 17.5's on Starline's new stepdeck, nor my 255/70 22.5 on my step. I carry the chains though.

You'll of course have to meet up with the person you might be interested in trading with cause freight charges would make it a moot point. You should be able to cut those 22.5s down to fit the 17.5s. I had some chains for some lowpro 24.5s cut down to fit 255/70 22.5s at that chain shop right by the Oregon scale in Pendelton on EB84 one December when Cabbage was snowed up. He called some number and they told him how many links to cut out. You might find that kind of table online, don't know.
