Did you have a accident with the following to close. If so you are very limited til it is 3 years old.. edited oops I looked at the wrong date.. the over speed is less than three old you will have a little difficulty but easier than the following to closely

Carriers and insurance companies usually only consider the last 3 years of your mvr. Any of them could be a problem if it were recent. The only one that would really be a problem is the 16 mph over the speed limit. 15 over is considered reckless driving and most won't touch you with anything over 15 mph. I would wait until the last conviction drops off and then try to get into the business. Your mvr shows a pattern that is not good for any carrier to hire. Insurance is high, even with a good mvr and safety record. The last thing a carrier needs is someone who is careless behind the wheel. You need to be more careful and don't get any more tickets. There might be a carrier who would consider you with that record, but most won't. When the last ticket drops off after 3 years then you may find something as long as you don't get any more tickets. This is an industry where a poor driving record can kill a career. What we do in our personal vehicles follows us when we get a CDL. You could check with some carriers and tell them about your driving record and see what they say.

Swift.. if the smaller companies won't hire you. Don't let people tell you that they are terrible. If you let them push you around they will. If you tell them what you are going to do and not take their crap. You will be fairly happy. Sure they have their problems but every company does. Get a year straight with them then move on or stay. Im not a company spokesman. I will tell you some of the crap they will pull. You have to have thick skin. But I think thats probably the industry.

The reckless driving will be an issue with most any carrier to whom you apply, especially starting out. There are several carriers who accept inexperienced drivers, but most want to see a clean driving record for the last 3 years. Swift, Schneider, Roehl, Millis, CRST, Covenant, US Xpress are a few who do training or hire inexperienced drivers. I would suggest talking to them BEFORE spending money on driving school until the reckless driving drops off. By the time you get out of driving school, the time will be shorter and that may be close enough for them to ignore the ding. If not I would wait until it drops off your record in May. Once you go to driving school you only have a short window to find a carrier and get a job. The longer it takes to find a job the more likely it will be that you could have to take a refresher course before being hired. You need to find a job within the first 3-6 months after completing driving school. Unless you can find a company where you can start driving within a short time frame, then you are wasting your money.

I am thinking about Swift since they have a driving school and a terminal a hour away from me (Richmond VA), But trust me, I have over 10 years in the Navy and a year as a Army contractor under me so I have a thick skin and very little tolerance for BS.

Also I was thinking about US Xpress, Abilene Motor Express, Schneider and Avirett since they all have terminals near me...but thanks for the heads up though...

As previously stated, your MVR shows a pattern. Don't worry about getting a job driving a 80,000 lb truck for now. Fix your driving habits. Save the speed and reckless driving for the video games and race tracks. The last thing we need is more dare devils on the highway threatening the lives of innocent motorists.
