I've got my CDL-B driving a straight truck (26,000lbs) I screwed up and got pulled off for going 70 in a 55 in Ohio. Got a ticket for $125. Any advice if I should hire a lawyer to fight it, pay it and let it go off in 3 years? Should I be worried about my current driving job? Otherwise my driving record is clean. Thanks

    Bumper Thanks this.

Personally, I would check with a lawyer.

    Yeah, check with a lawyer.
15 mph over is considered reckless driving by trucking company insurance companies.
Yes, there's a possibility you will be fired, so hire a lawyer and explain why you need it reduced a little.
Try to get it reduced to less than 15 mph over.

15 over can be a death hit to a cdl. Fight it. In fact you should fight any moving violation. Protect your cdl.
Or course, if you slow down, you won't have to worry about more speeding tickets.

The ticket goes off the bmv record after 3 years, but can employers still find out that I received this ticket after 3 years

The officer at my truck window told me as of right now you aren't required to appear in court but let me write down your number if they decide you need to appear in court. You should be fine with your clean record but I don't know what they will decide. Ohio has the option to charge me with a criminal reckless driving since I was going 15 mph over correct?

Ohio can pop you with civ. fine after you are conv. that can cost you or your co. another wad of cash, in court only the cop that gave you tic. can reduce the speed on tis. because of the Fed. masking law that went into action a few years ago, Get a lawyer
