Nothing pays worse than hauling live humans, especially children on school buses. I refuse to haul anything that's still breathing, I don't even like having passengers in my pick up unless I'm up to no good and she is good looking.

Called on a load of steel bars at 46,000lbs tarped out of Iowa going to Illinois today. 235 loaded miles had a rate of $300. I offered $700 and he hung up.

It's pathetic but I can almost guarantee someone pulled it for that.

I haul steel exclusively, I average well over $2 a mile. But I also haul for myself, and mix in permit loads of skidded coils and stand up coils. It pays very well I think and I'm home every day.

I hauled hanging meat almost exclusively in the late 70's/80's. That was something you had to pay attention to.

Is your user name a nod to Van Halen? If so, that's awesome.

I'm sure. This industry just amazes me sometimes. It's no wonder you guys and gals can't get the pay rates you deserve. The industry is stuck in the 70's and looks to remain that way because of the low ballers.
