Please excuse me while I step on my soapbox for a minute:

THE INTERSTATES ARE NOT A NASCAR TRACK! YOU ARE NOT DRIVING A NASCAR! YOU A DRIVING A 80,000LBS MISSLE DOWN THE HIGHWAY! YOU CANNOT STOP ON A DIME!
Now I will climb back down from my soapbox.

To many times recently I have had drivers get within feet of my trailer while I am in the right lane! Why? What is the reason? Why get within feet of the trailer in front of you? PASS THEM! If I have to hit the breaks, like I had to yesterday on 495 in DE beacuse a box fell out of the pickup in front of me, good thing I was not following close, you are going to have one hell of a headache. Follow at a safe distance and then when you can, PASS!!!!!!!!!

And don't even get me started on the passing another truck rant:biggrin_2559: I watched Werner and Heartland drag race for four miles this morning on the PA pike before Heartland final gave up and backed down and let Werner go by:biggrin_2559:

The problem IMO is we have too many super truckers out there. Just because your truck CAN go fast doesn't me you have to drive it fast.

On second thought, I'm not even gonna bother because it's in 1 ear and out the other.

It really is not that hard to let off the accelerator/or lower your cruise control by 1mph so another truck can pass you. I had one driver get on the cb and thanked me for dropping my speed 1mph. He was then able to pass and get in front of me. And at the time I was a werner newbie.

Over the last couple of days I noticed it more and more, since reading the other thread about this, and almost wished one of the people would tap their brakes...

I just love the tailgaters that can only be seen by the shadows of their vehicles. More than once I looked in my mirrors and could not see any cars behind me. But I was able to see a shadow of the car that was trying to crawl up my butt.

I wanted to put a sign on the back of my trailers saying:
I DON'T HAVE HEMORHOIDS SO STOP TRYING TO CRAWL UP MY ###.

I hollered at two drivers today I saw this behavior on. One was speeding through construction in Macon and was less than 5 feet from the bumper of a 4 wheeler!! At that range, he couldn't even see the bumper on the car in front of him and probably was missing half the roof.

    WTF???

Well I by no means am a truck driver. But it does make me wonder why people tailgate the big rigs. I know I try to give them as much room as I possibly can. Heck if a big rig passes me at night ill even flash my brights to let him know he can get over. Just respect the big vehicles. But its a two lane street sometimes I see a semi just ##### grabbin a four wheeler and think man I hope that four wheeler dont slam his breaks on cause it could get nasty. Theres also been several times i been doing 70 mph look back and see nothin but the freight shaker logo in the mirror, that always scares the crap out of me lol

I noticed a huge increase in people tailgating trucks after Myth Buster aired an episode on increasing MPG by tailgating trucks!

Maybe im being bad but if someone wants to tailgate me on the freeway i slow down and then i let them get right be side me and i match their speed

i know i know not right but i feel like i am making a point their has been an occasion or 2 where i got the finger and yelled at on the radio so i push a little harder and pull away from them still not right but still

and i know no one that does it is ever going to read this but still it is mostly the big companies that feel the need to speed when they "can" mostly oregon and cali where the speed limit is 55 i run 58 and everyone that can only go 62 that is how fast they gotta go so im just sayin

Oh I love when I get tailgated, usually do 1 of 2 things...keep slowing down until they go around or (my favorite when there's sand/other crap on the side of the road) drift my trailer over and pepper the crap outta them. They back off pretty quick!

Now in my pvt vehicle..I'm a brake checkin' SOB!
