The get yourself a load lock holder is the only correct answer. If it is your truck that is. The investment is only about $120.00 and I know that chicks dig them.
I, too, would like to read that regulation. Not calling BS on it just yet, but never heard of that before.
I've never been anywhere that didn't allow you to use load straps instead of load locks even though the sign said load locks (Anheuseur Busch I believe is one), although there's a few times I wish I had them because the pallet was too close to the side of the trailer.
I got my ones all the time IN my reefer... I call it food safety if a shipper or receiver start to complain about it ... if you stor them outside they are dirty....
Times have changed. They have a WLL50 stamped on them now. I never got hassled for using them on dunnage, tarps on the catwalk, or whatever.
I have been informed by numerous companies and other safety people whom I actually respect that storing equipment on the tractor catwalk is against OSHA regulations. Apparently, the catwalk area is supposed to be kept clear to provide safe access. Might not be a problem for the box draggers or the flatbedders with bulkheads permanently mounted to the fore of the trailer, but I use my catwalk constantly to access my deck (no bulkhead, have headache rack/storage box mounted on tractor instead), so I hate haveing extra crap on my catwalk creating a tripping hazard. I trip over flat surfaces enough as it is, I don't need any extra challenges.
I have never got hassled either and am guilty of using them as described but I try not to because the people who make them say this: http://www.universalpolymer.com/blog/misconceptions-about-tarp-straps-and-wll/ http://www.cbsparts.ca/admin/bulletins/WLL on Rubber Tarp Ties 11-21-11.pdf http://www.cvsa.org/members/forms/IssueRequestDetail_pdf.php?IssueID=760 http://ccmta.ca/images/pdf-document...ecurement_Changes_January_2010_Dec_Update.pdf
