True that he would have just call them give them a trailer number and tell them you didn't see a company name it was an owner operator and call the cops tell them the same and you good you just need to learn how to play the game or go to the closest truck stop and call safety tell them you went inside the truck stop to get food and another truck hit your truck and left the scene and no witness

I suspect his attitude during the two weeks after the crash had as much to do with his termination as the actual incident. Might still have his job if when he sat down with safety he admitted his error of following too close and had learned a valuable lesson.joseph1135, rockee, Joetro and 6 others Thank this.

I think a lot of people come here expecting to be coddled because we are drivers, and most are shocked when they don't get that. Many of us have a lot of years under our belts and take it and the responsibility with it seriously. That said, his attitude of "everyone else's" fault certainly played a role in his current dilemma. I hope he gets on his feet, but I also hope he walks away with a new understanding of this job and what it entitles. But judging by his posts, I'm afraid if it happens its a ways off.

The next time you think you need to drive as fast as the 'other trucks' are going in bad conditions, wait a few minutes, or an hour, and watch for some of those trucks in the ditch, or median, or down an embankment.
Give the other idiot enough room to make some mistakes, and you enough room to make an attempt to avoid them.
I've calmly tip-toed through total chaos on ice and snow more than once....cars and trucks sliding everywhere, like bumper cars.
You aren't able to do that 'driving like they do', and it doesn't always mean going slowly or slower than everybody else. (Just keep away from the idiots!)
Try putting some apps in, you may end up going out with another trainer.

Sooo correct if I'm wrong but the guy leaving the scene AFTER is what caused you to slide into him? Sounds to me like we're not getting the whole story and I'm willing to bet that the powers that be thought the same thing.MJ1657 Thanks this.

!st rule of driving......ANYTHING.....if the conditions are worse than you have the skills for...STOP. Don't try and drive in them. A phone call/text message to your dispatch office would have the thing to do.....YOU are in charge....if you aren't sure you can handle the conditions don't try.

Wow...a rookie that knows more than the company he's working for.....There is no such thing as too much following distance/cushion on slick roadways.....NO SUCH THING....PERIOD....Joetro, biggare1980 and OPUS 7 Thank this.
