Ok title says it all pretty sure I know but will ask anyway . I have union Pacific 7in round crystal headlights and upon washing my truck today apparently the glass was still hot from when the headlights were on because it cracked it didnt bust or anything but there is a crack is this a ticketable offence light still works fine. Will be replacing but in the meantime was wondering since its functional with no obstruction

I don't think so. It doesn't obstruct your view or anything. If the light is operational then no worries.

As long as it is 100% functional, and the pattern of light being thrown out front looks normal, you will not get a ticket. The thing is that light could go another week, or another 5 minutes. Better to change it now, on your terms, instead of being out in the rain later, changing it because you put it off.

They shouldn't have cracked. Headlamps get hot while on but not THAT hot to where cool water will constrict it so fast that it will break.

I don't know this light. Is it a sealed light where when bulb burns out you must reaplace entire unit?? Or is there a "bulb modual" you install in rear of reflector?
IF it works that to me suggests it is NOT leaking. Air in bulb will normally cause a headlight to burn out in seconds.
As it has a crack. I would be TEMPTED to get a new light (as soon as I can find once cheap) and keep it in truck. IF the light fails how hard is it to replace on road? As cracked wouldn't most give you a break as it just went? (if they think a rock cracked it thats their assumption. ) :)
I like to pick up spare parts as they come up. See a similar truck smashed up. Talk to owner and if they are going to let insurance company take it, haul it to bone yard... I ask if I could grab some bulbs. Have spare headlights, one side tail lights/backup/ fuses and wouldn't take a cent for them.

Nothing it doesnt leak just it cracked from to much cold water to fast I imagine ..most rain isnt alot cooler then the outside temp were as the water in the hose was probably 50 degrees cooler then the outside air and id bet 100 degree cooler then the headlight for it to crack ..yes im a dumba%% and yes you can rreplace just the bulb and there is no waiting for a cheaper on there 65 70 a light there the ones with the leds on both sides of the light . I already purchased a replacement although haven't installed it yet I really dont see a need to until mine fails I was just wondering if anyone had a knowledge if I could be ticketed for a crack ..I wouldnt think so because its fully functional and doesnt cause any disruption

As far as being ticketed. It does depend if Officer has common sense. (and IQ above room temp) I was driving a pickup and got pulled over. I had a burned out tail light. So I replaced it. (and washed out red lense while it was apart) So she pulls me over because one tail light was "noticeably brighter" then the other. She said "it could cause other drivers to be confused and cause accident....." I dang near laughed in her face. She was serious, had a rider from city council along.. Let me go with a warning. So I loosen the other side/shoot garden hose in and its fine.... What SHOULD happen and what does... I would drive it.
