We are looking into getting new trucks. The boss is done with Internationals and feels new Kenworths may be what we go with.
We had to talk him out of Volvo trucks thank god!
Anyway,I like the T660 as far as looks and design but we have a couple drivers pushing T700s at the boss.
For you drivers that have these trucks what are the pros and cons between the two?
We run single so no upper bunk needed.
T660 or T700?

well i drive a 700 trained on a 660
I am not as comfortable in the smaller truck
If you run a stick you can hardly squueze back to the sleeper
and it has that foolish step down
the wide body 700 might look like a football helmet but it is a pleasure to drive and move around in
ours have nice lighted closests , apu's, 2500 watt inverters frig/freezer, cb hook up prewired tv antennae stereo's with sirius radio
but of course so dont the 660 so i digress
turning radius on both is poor compared to other makes but just takes getting used to
i hear the 700's are worse then 660 but I didnt drive mine long enough to tell -
From a looks stand point I'm with you on the 660 thats about the only aero truck I can stand....Have not driven a 660 yet and the last 600 I drove was in like '94 or so but I'd guess the 660 rides like a KW (which is good) and turns on a dime..
The T700 looks like a squared off T2000 which were junk from the get go and the 700 just screams mega fleet !!EZ Money, Logan76 and slim shady Thank this. -
Well, I can tell you that you dodged a bullet, so to speak, talking the boss out of Volvos. I drive a Volvo, got it brand new, and am completely unimpressed. The ride is decent, but that is about it. A lot of silly little stuff that a newer truck should never have go wrong, have went wrong. As far as T660 or T700.....the T660 is a better looking truck, and is an undated T600. I have driven a bunch of T600's and really liked them. the T700 is an updated T2000, it appears. And T2000's where junk from day one. What was Kenworth thinking with them?
Flip Flops and EZ Money Thank this. -
My guess is they were thinking "lets make another plastic throw away truck we can sell to the big mega fleet bottom feeders"..volvodriver01 Thanks this.
-
Thanks,That was my thinking too.
The T700 is just a big square looking truck.Plastic fleet truck?
I drove a T600 years ago...I think it was about a 99 model and it was a solid, well built truck.
The 2011 International i have now has had so many problems and is the shop so much the boss is fed up with them.
We asked for W900's to the boss but that didn't fly...lol!
That is probably a good thing though because we deliver to some very tight places to get in and out of and we have a couple drivers who struggle with the Internationals.
I still miss driving a long hood truck......

Why did the boss say no to the 900's? Just curious if there was a reason.
-
hey i resemble that remark
