taco stoped working

The tach sensor on my Cat is on the bellhousing, I thought cummins was the same way? Maybe just some of the older ones.

Dave, pull the tach gauge out of the dash and check the plugs. I had problems with mine and after unplugging it and plugging it back in it started working. I also ended up having to mess with the dip switches, kind of like they wasn't getting a good connection.

 

If your taco isn't workin for ya you could always upgrade to a Burrito!

Or try putting some hot sauce on it!

 

eps (engine position sensor)located under air compressor in gear housing cover or next to accessory drive.3 wires usually white,green,red.much easier to remove if you cut wires off and slide socket on.i made a specialized socket with a groove cut in it.sensor tends to wear out on tip and leak oil through wires.sensor costs $40 in U.S.probably $1000 there!good luck.

 

I would think if it's the sensor, the ECM would have a Fault Code stored for the bad sensor. My guess would be the wiring between the ECM and gauge or the gauge is bad.

 

If its ELECTRONIC check the FUSE , I had a TACO ( MeX food )the other day and was GLAD it stopped working.

 

I agree. My guess is that, since the tach jumps when he starts it, that it's getting a signal of some kind. What do you think, Mr. Haney?

 

Wouldn't it be easier if he got hold of another "TAC-O" and hook it up ? If the tester tac-o works, then it's the tach thats bad, If the tester doesn't work then you know it's electrical
