Yes, I pull chemical tankers never seen a baffled tank nor do we have one.
Closest thing to a baffled tank is a 3-4 compartment

Depends on operation. But if the tank needs to be washed. I wouldn't want to pull it.

Oil haulers, Gasoline haulers, waste haulers. Dedicated stuff. No way I"m pulling a tank without baffles again.

Quality Carriers. If your are an experienced CDL driver they give 4 days of classroom training plus 0-10 days of OJT going out with a trainer, depending on any past tanker experience.

Milk is usually two tanks unbaffeled for sanitation.

When it gets active back and forth is common, that decides when I shift and pull on it. Sometimes I'll pile it up front and hold it then brake with less application so that it settles before a full stop. Otherwise it will try to pull you backwards with a slam.

If that liquid ever gets active side to side you have a problem. Particularly fast lane changes. I once had to swap lanes in a hurry and the inside trailer wheels came up several feet enough to try and pull me over. But quick with the steering wheel to give way long enough to slosh it back down.

I was not a very fast truck, that was for sure. Most of it was little farm roads with hardly any traffic on them.

It’s really not that hard. A week or two per tank type is enough hands on training. Just think where the product is going and the space left behind. Sometimes you pump, so vent it to let air in. Sometimes you blow, so close the vents and monitor the psi etc.

    patsy Thanks this.
