Tankers the Schneider way

Who in here, is actually....not averaging, but actually and physically being paid $1,000 gross or more every single week?

 

My recruiter quotes me an average 2300 miles and they will start me at .43 cpm. That comes to 989 and that is before any accessory pay. A grand a week should be simple. I dont intend to be home much. The issue Im having now is I have to surrender my utah cdl and get a texas one. But I didnt plan on getting an apartment or anything. It would be way cheaper to just stay at a hotel for the 3-4 days a month Ill be off. But ths DMV says there are all sorts of things I have to have to prove my domicile is in texas. Such as bills, rental agreements, ect.
So currently weighing my options.
They also want an accident report from January of 06. It was a not at fault one, but it was in California so who knows what 3 ring circus Ill have to join to get it. Ive never had anybody ask fot it before. Its not on my DAC and I wasnt cited as my MVR shows.

 

Makes a big difference.... cause right now I dont have days off, unpaid on-call standby status, no benefits, trucks breaking down, rough roads, cant be more than 1 hour from the truck ever, and making an average of $43k...... tha's with NO days off!!!!! lots of sitting waiting for the frac crew to give the go ahead. So........hard pressed to make up for missed work days......Not me, gimme a thousand a week, match 50% on my 5% to 401k, on time pu/del bonus (keep all the other bonus incentives) and spread 7 weeks off time-at-home a year....... am goooooood. Taxed, insured, brand new personal 4X4, money in the bank, GPS, CB, E-LOGS, E-FLO, E-SCAN,FRIDGE, A/C, HEATER, Maintenace, just need a wife with a $25k income with a cool and responsible brother for another $5k and everything taken care off!!!!!!......i'm goooood........zzzzzzzzz.......Darn, i just woke up - shoot, back to reality >

 

Hi Ethos, are you a TE in Houston? I will be going to Houston for training next month (Aug)... bulk training. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Really good tips and advice will get you a steak dinner if your there.

 

Yes I run out of Houston. As far as training I would refer you to the Schneider forum on this site. I and others have given out much advice. Main thing to bring is a good attitude. Be flexible and ready to learn. This is a tough job to pick up and the frustration level will be high but it will get easier, I promise. Don't get discouraged and give up. You will be hot, very hot down here so be prepared for that.

 

Here's my gross for the last 6 weeks:

And this week I will have at least $1247.98 plus any detention my next delivery may accrue. This is working from 0530 Mon till about 1200 on Sat and I've been home at least once every week (like right now) and off every weekend. This is year round like this. We don't really get slow. We are a private fleet who hauls our own products. We keep enough drivers to keep us busy like this all year. Our surges and slow periods are handled with outside carriers like Prime, Foodliner, etc that way we stay consistently busy all year. Also I don't "conserve" my 70. Other than the 30 min off duty every day, and if I stop and take an hour or so nap in the sleeper, all time is on duty or driving. This includes stopping for bathroom breaks and snacks etc.
