It's a push.... especially in the morning for a company driver..... O/O were making it on-time/Within time to get unloaded.... Not every time but most of the time..... Me personally I am talking to the receiver constantly giving updates... Hoping they appreciate that n use it to get me in at the last minute.....

I never said driver didn't call me. I received a call, but the call I received was I won't be there till 1:00. At that time I was trying to work with Broker and Receiver. This receiver has very strict appointment times and will not reschedule a same day appointment. If your late...that late you gotta reschedule for another day. And they shutdown at 1:00 from what I was told. It was just the perfect storm to punctuate a crappy Monday.

This was a Brokered load and appointments were pre-scheduled by Broker. After receipt I didn't think it was unreasonable. After this experience I would ask for that last appointment to be pushed to the latest appointment time.

When scheduling it feels like your trying to play a game of chicken. Plan with modest times to get to destination and hope everything goes well...Which 75% of the time they do. OR...put too much time in and have a driver sitting and waiting twiddling his thumbs.

With no window time loads, you should start calling the driver u wanna assisgn that load to first before committing to it to see if he can deliver it.Companies have late lds all the time because they automatically assume that driver can make it.You might wanna start giving drivers window time on every load otherwise they'll always be late even if they try not to.You have to account for traffic depending where at.Out in the northeast the driver needs a couple 3 extra hrs.

These receivers need to start being a little more cumbersome when accepting LTL's......

Do people even understand the Concept of LTL? means less than truckload,
Traditionally, LTL shipments deliver with a same/next Day Window, NOT APPOINTMENT TIMES

if Every FedEx,UPS Freight,YRC had to set appointment times on LTL deliveries, They would be out of business in 6 months

    See, Im Defending phoenixlogistics..

Patty, its very difficult to Schedule loads with Appt Times when you have several pieces of equipment to dispatch, Even the BEST planners/dispatchers cant keep all cylinders fired weekly when receivers are demanding appt times with LTL..

You Lose precious Time when appointments need to be made,Especially with LTL, Impossible to be efficient with your Fleet.

    Inefficiency Costs the Carrier Revenue

Bottom Line, Start Saying NO to LTL appointment times........Request a Delivery window (7-3) Or whatever fits..

    #### Good points Stayinback!!!

The rates can be better at times but the risk you run of letting people down because of missed appointments, etc. is FAR greater!

My experience with Costco, and not there, but the one at Morris, IL is they make the appointment to suit them, you have no say in the matter.

I'm delivering my last drop of 6 there on Wednesday morning, which is why I get the load, I guess, they know I will be there on time.
Then I get to drive back to Harvey to pick up a few MT pallets, they don't like working around too much stuff in the trailer, and they won't move anything but MTs to get to their stuff, since the MTs in this question are the backhaul, I elected to drive back to get them rather than work around them.

We get those MTs just for Costco deliveries.

That is the problem! There is no way I would plan that. You have a 4 hour 200mile window with toll roads in Washington DC drive time traffic. Toll road as just as likely to be late. You want to be in business you best know what your business is.

That traffic in that area/time is as bad as it gets. Been there dozens of times. You need to know how to trip plan before blaming drivers.

Costco time stamps all there bills so it easy to see just what happened.
