    So I'm curious....

How do drivers tarp loads? How in the world do y'all get tarps on really high loads or loads (even short ones) that you can't walk along the sides of the trailer (walking on it but down the sides)?

I've had some people say that forklift drivers will usually lift it up for you, bit how do you get it across the load? What if they refuse do you just reject the load since there isn't a way to get it on particularly with the tall loads?

Also, I was told some drivers wrap a strap around the tarp and pull it up....what do they mean by this and if anyone has pics, videos, etc of this or anything else they could help I'd appreciate it!

Fold your tarp up,set on top of the load and unfold it.We have a forklift and man basket in the yard to get up there, also carry ladders on the trucks.Always a lot of work any way you do it.
Some places have a catwalk set up you can park beside and work from there.
Forklift will set it on top of the load for you sometimes.

I always throw some straps over the tarp because I always seem to get into a lot of wind when I have a tarped load.Never had a tarp come loose with 4 or 6 straps over it.

COTC has several videos about tarping. They should know, they tarp a lot.

Forklifts will set on top of load for you. If you got 8 foot drops. Them babies usually weigh 70 lbs.

Usually loads have a way for you to get up there. Having a ladder helps for the other loads.

Your biggest problem loads will be crap that should be on a curtain trailer.

Yes one of my very few pet peeves is tarping, which is the reason i don't do flat bed, unless its chaining or strapping only. I used to think of how quick I'd be with a van stick a few pogo sticks and boards between the load and away you go. With a dry van, reefer, tanker, or tautliner everything is sealed so no issues with the weather, no worries about straps coming loose, or tarps flying off and much less risk for traffic.

After I saw one of the newer Roll-Tites close over 3 tiers of lumber squared off my lumber tarps became yard tarps. If their 2x4’s need to be covered that bad they should be travelling indoors.
