if you go on to there site go to the videos part team driver an average day on the road they are the second team he tells you that what there average day is like

Yeah the person is working a total of 12 hours instead of 14 hours.
That means: I went to line 4 # 8:00 am (my 14 hour would end # 10:00 pm) the driver that said every 12 hours is shutting the truck down # 8:00 pm which means they are shutting down BEFORE their 14 hour. Now I hope they are not driving that whole 12 hours because that would be a violation of the 11 hour rule
But I think the point they are getting at is that team only works 12 hours and the other one takes over. It's smart to do that, however that means one driver might end up "driving" less than the other, however I would say the "work" time would be the same. So it's up to you as a driver.
I will say you can not drive 12 hours and then switch. -
thats what I thought but maybe they stop for meal breaks and such I don't think you would stop that often if you are on a team but I'm have no experience hence the question

Anyhow that's how they "say" they are doing it. -
I was listening to the "Loading Dock" on channel 147 on Sirius satellite radio this morning and caught something on the "ask the law segment" with Texas state trooper Monty Dial regarding teams and inspections. According to him a team only has to show 1 pre-trip and 1 post-trip between the 2 of them. Of course we all know (thanks to LogsRus) the post trip is the mandatory inspection where a driver must fill out a daily vehicle inspection report and must show this as "on duty not driving." The pre-trip at the beginning of the day is a simple walk around which can be flagged so long as the time it took to perform the function was less than 15 minutes and that time is recorded under the location as in; Ontario, Ca pre-trip 2 minutes.
2 other things I picked up from this segment were the recap is NOT required to be filled out by the driver. If an officer wants to check a drivers recap they will get out a calculator and figure it themselves, and in many logbooks there was a section requiring from and to. This is no longer required either.
For anyone else interested in learning more about the rules and regs of trucking there is the "ask the law" site as well as ol' blue USA. Both sites offer great information pertinent to our industry. -
hrm... I must be misunderstanding...
I thought the post trip wasn't a daily thing, but a requirement when the truck stopped for extended periods. That is, when a single driver hits his 11/14 hours and has to grab some rack time. But a team truck essentially stops only at the end points, hence the single pre and single post-trip inspection.
Of course, LogsRus can clear this up for everybody
