My partner has been driving truck for a few years now, doing local reefer work but has recently switched to working as a company driver, doing OTR at a new company. We like it so much that I am now studying for my CDL and our plan is to team together. (We need to make sure it's worth it, before I take the leap though!) His company is willing to bring me on which is amazing, me being a rookie and all. But... we dont want to be naive and want to make informed decisions before totally changing our lifestyle.

Hoping to find some team drivers that may be willing to help out some newbies by answering a few questions.

Our main question, one of the only things we've had a hard time finding info for, is what we should be accepting as a reasonable rate of pay vs what isn't worth it?

Hopefully this isn't a taboo question to ask but we are having a hard time finding info on it from Canadians who team. We have a good idea of what US based teams make. Some teams in the states make it look like no big deal to earn $150k-$200k a year. Is this possible working for a canadian company? Are cpm rates similar between here and the US?

Appreciate any input you guys may have on this subject and any advice on just teaming in general. We are humbly accepting any and all guidance. TIA!

You'll be running super-single probably for the first few months. Pay won't be great, but you need this to get into proper team schedule. I recall team pay was 10 cents over nominal rate, but that could have changed, it's been a while. Good luck.

    Kala92 Thanks this.
