I'm not sold on the concept of an electric truck yet. The infrastructure to support fleets of them just isn't there. These aren't something that you can just plug into a 110V/20A household outlet. In terms of electrical power, 1 horsepower is equal to 746 watts (IIRC). 500 horsepower is equal to 373KW. You'd have to have a substation built on the property just to charge a small fleet of like 10 trucks. Imagine what an outfit like Swift would need at every terminal? I just don't see it being feasible yet when the refuelling process on a diesel truck takes 20 minutes and the fuel storage tanks at the truck stops take up minimal space compared to the number of trucks that can fill up from it.

What's the matter with you? You can't be talking about facts and reality when certain powerful people have an agenda that is both financially and politically driven.

"Carmaker says fuction is not intended to avoid a collision and warns drivers not to rely on it entirely"

What?! are they suggesting it might not be entirely reliable!?
Either a driver is paying attention or hes not. End of story.

They may want to consider changing the name of that feature from autopilot, to something else.

Of course the infrastructure isn't there. The infrastructure to support gasoline/diesel powered cars and trucks didn't exist when they were created either. As a few companies start picking up electric trucks, the infrastructure will grow.

You guys do know that there are a decent number of electric bobtail trucks running around making deliveries already, right?

Yes. There's always somebody willing to try the latest fancy gadgets and taking advantage of significant tax break incentives while they last. The ultimate test comes when these things reach their life expectancy. Do they buy again or buy more? Did they retain ANY trade value? We'll see but they're only going to be practical for a few in a few applications.

The Delorean was also supposed to revolutionize the auto industry. How did that turn out?

The initial majority of E truck purchases arent going to be for long haul, just like the natural gas rigs. Its going to be city or instate(or regional if the state is small enough or close enough to a border) There are alot of plans for this in the works and its going to be interesting to see what ends up being fact or fiction. I'm more interested in the Nikola Truck. I have alot of respect for Musk's accomplishments, but he is a better spokesman than his various companies are at producing results. Not too mention his Steve Jobs like fan bois. If something happens to him, everything he has started is gone. Nobody will be able to fill his shoes better and his face is what gets the business ball rolling and the cash coming in
