Where do I start?? 1st-Thing is Rush charges you 5.00 a week for uniforms that you have to take home and wash and dry yourself. You are not allowed to exchange any unless they are torn or stained. Yep!! that's right you pay them to wash there shirts at your "EXPENSE" at your house.. Wow what a deal.!!

2nd-They pay you on percentage. But what they don't tell you is that they have you do work that should be paid per hour. Example-Seperate and hand unload frt. and put it in customer's storage area. Or you may even do dock work (ie) load or unload your truck at term. Or repallet and/ or seperate frt. on skids. How about change your own marker lights on your own time. "MY FAVORITE" is get back to term at 2:30pm and be forced to wait "NOT PAID" till 5:00pm or so just in-case something pops up before you are allowed to go home.

3rd-You are on call at all times. There is no real set start or finish time. They will work you at least 12hr days. But you will do alot of 14hr days as well. And let's not forget the "FAMOUS" One -16hr day that you work which is mostly on a Friday. How about drive to Chicago,In to delv. and drive back mty at no pay. This kind of stuff happends all the time. And no those miles are not included in the pricing. When you break down hrs worked and money brought home you can make 5.00hr up to 14.00hr if your lucky. But on a "Honest Ave" you might come close to 10.00hr for your Cdl-A all endorcements with hazmat that you've worked hard to get not to mention the money it might have cost you.

And Last but not Least!! Everybody and I mean Everybody!! From The Owner (and wife). To Operations Mgr. To Safty Mgr. To Dispatchers and Appt setters. DO NOT HAVE A CDL!! Yet they run the company and your life and they get to decide what kind of money you should make as a CDL Driver. Rush has a very and I mean very "HIGH TURN-OVER RATIO" of employees do to the hrs worked and money brought home.

Now do to your possable boardem I will end this post with one last statement: In my opinion if you work for someone you should get paid for all hrs worked. But if you are on percentage then you should not have to work on time consuming crap or be forced to wait on your own time that only benefits the company. After all our time is also valuable to us just like the companies time is valuable to the company. It's hard to watch the office people take 5 or 6 smoke brakes in a 8hr shift and get paid for it. ( you do the math). When you work 12hrs plus a day and only get paid for a portion of those hrs. This by far is the "MOST CROOKED" place I've worked for in Dayton,OH!!!

    Spankie,
It has been my pleasure to work at Rush for several years. It IS frustrating waiting for loads, but HELLO, this IS trucking. I chose this career and so did thousands of other drivers. We knew going into it that it was hard work and we often don't get paid for everything we do. There are thousands of truckers who get paid per mile who have to sit and wait on the next load. I hate seeing people like you who want to sit and whine that you don't get paid for all your "valuable" time. If you want an hourly job, go to the fast food industry.

The uniform program isn't bad. I usually get a new set of uniforms every 12 months. That doesn't count the times that I had to turn in something that I got grease on or ripped. It saves me from ruining my personal clothes.

As far as being on call at all times???? What are you talking about? The name of the company is Rush EXPEDITING. We do expedited loads. We may not know exactly what time we will start in the morning everyday, but 4 out of 5 days we do. I don't find that so bad. The not knowing the end time sucks a little, but I chose to be a trucker, so I knew that I won't have an easy life. You don't work here anymore, but me and six others have been here for several years. Yes there is turnover, but well under the national average for trucking. I'm sorry you had a negative experience at Rush and I hope your new employer makes you feel treasured and loved, but to the rest of you out there, this is a good employer and a good place for O/O.

No this is not a good employer, sheep like you that think "this is trucking" you have to work or wait for free, is why they expect us to do it. NO not me, you don't pay me you don't GET my time. if every driver said no to the free bs we could change things around.... :biggrin_25513:

The uniform program is illegal. You can't charge rent on uniforms that you have to wear at work, which this is.

Being forced to sit and wait without pay, that is BS. If I'm sitting, I'm collecting.

Taking in the butt sounds like what rush wants, and with fans of that like you posting, it's go to know that you won't get paid, and being forced to pay to work at Rush Expediting from Ohio.
