I've been reading the posts and there seems to be a positive opinion of Roehl. I need CDL training and would like to attend the school in Marshfield, but wonder if it's worth the journey. I'm looking for some opinions first hand on RDTC and Roehl. Thanks in advance!!
Thinking about joining Roehl

Wedge I have not started RDTC yet my first day of training is the 19th of July but I have done alot of research on this forum since January of this year and Roehl seems to be a good company overall to drive for I will try and keep you updated if you would like once I start training but from the information I have gathered I believe I have made a good decision to go with Roehl.

Also alot of my decision was made from them having the highest safety rating out of the bigger carriers for the last two years, since I have kids I want to make sure that the truck is going to be safe and gets me home to my family.

I've been doing the same as you regarding research and comparison to all the freight companies. In my opinion, Roehl is pretty rock solid. There will always be those who are not content, but I've noticed that in a lot of cases negative comments are triggered by an incident and the author is simply venting. There will be good and bad comments made about all companies. If we spend the time gathering information, hopefully, we'll choose a company that has more positive than negative attribtutes.
Too much philosophy......
I've been on the "Roehlbound thread" gathering as much information as possible. I want to attend RDTC. I'll need to drive up there and I am putting together a budget. I haven't been working in a few months (just relocated to GA) so money isn't in great supply. Everyone's been great providing me with advice and what to watch out for. I'm selling off some pieces of equipment that I don't need anymore (cabinet shop stuff) in order to raise money for this career change. I only have 3 pieces left and once they're gone, I'll send in my paperwork.
I hate waiting around, but I don't have much choice. At least while I'm waiting I'm getting the CDL permit out of the way, and continuing with my exercise routine (mostly walking and diet change).
Assuming that you're still on track for a July 19th start date, I'd like to read your posts about your time there. The more information the better. If I'm lucky, I could end up in a class a week or two behind you.
Good luck at Roehl and keep posting. -
wish you luck! I think this is a good place to start... Just remember to breathe when you get up there to take the admissions test. Heck drop my name if you want... could put a little money in my pocket... lol Sad aren't I? lol
They really are a micro-managing company, but that being said it makes sense to try to control everything within the company that can save them money in the long run. I don't beleive they "don't care about the driver" as some thread eluded to here. They a in the market to make money... they want to know why and how to make more money more effeciently... I'm currently waiting to hear from my Evo 1 trainer so I can get out there and start moving things along... email me at [email protected] if you have any questions I may be able to answer...
