I have tried eld several times, on several devices. I do not like it. It may have increased profits for freight carriers, I yet have to see better pay as a driver. Paid per mile rates for drivers should be illegal on eld. Percentage would make more sense and keep people like myself from being so frustrated with it all.

Hell no!!! Not unless they are paying $18.00/hr and pay for every hour from the time I leave the terminal until I return... 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week until I return. I have been paid hourly to drive and it sucks. I make WAY more on a pay pet mile basis.

Hourly is not beneficial for an employer that does not charge by the hour.

Percentage gives you knowledge of what the employer is making off the work your doing.
And is the way to start understanding trucking more in-depth.

I’m just two trucks right now, pay my guy percentage. I’m running one by Coretex an it does a great job. I had big Road for awhile and their service fell off a cliff and I cancelled it. I like ones that are not bring your own device or BYOD. There are too many issues with them. Coretex is very similar to having a unit like the big fleets do, without the price tag. I’ve used the rand McNally in cab device and it was good to, also not bad on price.

I just took an hourly local. Sit my tail at the dock for hours. Works for me.

I'll read a book or something. I have sat at them for hours locally on salary. Never again. When I say local I mean home every night. 400 mile run.

Dude!!! Really? You know a lot of rich truck drivers to be jealous of? No disrespect but let's face it, you gotta play the cards dealt ya or walk away. It is what it is.If you find an easier job that pays as well, keep it to yourself. I'm the first to ##### about it but at the end of the day it beats the alternatives.
