GA… left lane is NEVER ok unless there is only 2 lanes……
Badmon, homeskillet and truckdriver31 Thank this. -
There will be signs stating what the law is
Numb and truckdriver31 Thank this. -
And this all circles back around to the guys on here that defend their reasoing why its ok for them to spend 10 mins in the middle lane trying to pass another governed truck because they can run 62.5 vs 62 mph in a 65 mph speed limit or they feel they don't need to be in the right hand lane because of traffic entering or exiting
They are the snails that were referred too in the OP
I hate snailsHammer166, alds, gearjammr78 and 7 others Thank this. -
And they mean business, easy money tickets. If your stuck behind 2 idiots in the right and center and you make a quick pass in the left they won't bother you if you do it quick.alds and truckdriver31 Thank this.

Also depends on the situation. If your a truck passing two boneheads doing 45 in a 65 or 70 and you belt past them to get back right or move over to let another vehicle move over for a disabled vehicle then most cops are going to ignore you.....note the MOST. If its 2 am and there is little/no traffic.....expect a ticket.WildTiger1990, truckdriver31 and snowwy Thank this.

Michigan defines a truck as a commercial vehicle over 8800 lbs gvw or gvrw. Not made up, it is codified.
this is not just semi trucks, it includes box trucks and service pickups.
it isnt enforced when it should be. For some reason the cdl manual isn’t but should be more explicit on the issue.
The law is simple.
On a three or more lane freeway, all trucks are allowed in the right two lanes only except for exiting left and can enter the left lane with in a mile.
There is an exception for emergency vehicles but not for passing.truckdriver31 and expedite_it Thank this. -
I haven't been in California for around 8 years, but I can tell you that there aren't many signs telling you "Right Two Lanes Only". They expect any drivers coming into the state to know the Commercial Vehicle laws and restrictions.

If you are not sure then just stay out of the third lane(or fourth lane in some places).
ncmickey Thanks this.
