Police say three people were killed when a car pushed another into the path of a semi-truck, which then ran over both cars. At least one of those cars caught on fire.

I thought the second car was pushing the first (which had broken down)?; when the truck ran them both over, killing the three people in the pushing car.
From the news this morning, it seems the person in the broken down car and the truck driver both survived.
