I got my CDL in July, I have not started driving for a company yet. Looking to apply soon.
A month or so ago I got a ticket for running a red light by a red light camera. It was in my personal car.
There were extenuating circumstance that distracted me (motor cycle shooting out of parking lot on one side, car speeding by me on the other side, but I did run the light. (i even honked 2xs like i was taught in trucking school). But then i saw the flashes and new i was done.
I plan to go to traffic school and pay the fine if the judge doesn't care about the circumstances.
How will this affect me on getting a job as a new truck driver? Should I list it on my applications or wait until i go to court (In January) before I apply to jobs.

I'm not 100% sure a photo ticket is even considered a moving offense because not all states do so. As far as I can tell this is not even a violation listed in 383.51. As long as this is all on the DMV your fine, don't worry about it. Just remember to not get anything else.

Not knowing what state you got the camera ticket in, but in most cases it's just a money grab?
CoachGKJ, tscottme and slim shady Thank this. -
California of course. AKA Retiring to trucking to get out of this hell hole.

If going to traffic school will get the ticket expunged from your record, then it never happened. (There may still be some states that don't allow CDL holders to have tickets expunged after traffic school. Until recently Arizona was this way.)
After traffic school get a certified copy of your driving record so you'll know what's on there and hence what to put on job applications.CoachGKJ Thanks this. -
It's a money grab, Its ticket to the car. They have no idea who was driving the car at the time.

i got nailed at least 3 times....lol
late at night (or early in the mornings like 2AM), and i get nailed by those insipd things.
pay the fine, you're good, it's only a cash grab....
JUST DO NOT LET A COP NAIL YOU FOR RUNNING A RED LIGHT, THEN, YOU'RE TOAST...!!!!!!! -
I got one few years ago in Missouri. I got in touch with the prosecutor and she reduced it to a parking ticket. I always just assumed it was a moving violation, but now I wonder. Either way, a money grab for sure!

I got one of these in the mail when I lived in TN. I threw it in the trash. The State Representative said to not pay them, so I didn't. I've never heard anything more about it.
CoachGKJ Thanks this.
