I have a 2007 Freightliner Century with a 13-speed Eaton Fuller transmission and it seems to be slipping out of gear whenever I am in high. It happens about once or twice a day and usually when I am in 8th-high and all of a sudden my RPM's will shoot up and I have to clutch out then back in to get my torque back.
8th low never has any problems just the high gears. Also when I am just coasting in cruise control I feel these half a second tugs that are not from any gusts of wind. It almost feels like one of the drive axles is having some resistance. I had the guy at the TA check my drive shaft and fluid differential levels and everything looked good. I through a clutch adjustment at it and that seemed to make things a little worse.
Can the splitter mechanism cause it not to properly shift to high when I split the gear? I want to exhaust all the low cost solutions before I take it in for a new clutch or get the transmission checked out. Thanks for the input!
Time for a new clutch?

How many mi. your trans. has on it now?
-
About 957K and the clutch is about 4.5 years old.
-
the clutch won't make trany jump out of gear.
-
Is'nt there some kind of a warrantee.Seems that's too soon to be needing a clutch and what it will cost has to be very expensive.

Clutch will not make trans pop out of gear, A real tran. shop is your next stop.

Anyone know of a good trans shop near San Antonio Texas or Fort Worth?

Ck. piston under 4 bolt cover on back box it has O ring around piston that moves into hi. IF shifter is not moveing when she jumps out it might be worn out back in back box look in truck paper for trans shop that has ad in trans repair over there, you can still drive it home in 12th

I second what baha said seeing as how it's the easiest thing to try. I've also read something similar a while back about a shifter mechanism causing slippage out of gear. Over time, yadda yadda yadda, etc. But from what I remember it seems like something a diy'er could do. When I first bought my truck it had a similar issue and I'm pretty sure all the dealer mechanic did what do an adjustment/repair with a shifter component. --didn't charge me anything. In my haste I didn't ask more in depth questions when he said "free" lol. But hopefully this gives you some direction as you continue your search.

It is running good now but that problem comes and goes. I will be in Tucson on Monday and I have always had a good experience at the Freightliner dealer there so I made an assessment appointment. I searched around for a trans mechanic in San Antonio but they all had bad reviews on Google.
