I'm running Continental steers and Dayton drives
-
Negative. Those same people are running quality tires that have zero issues and last years.
-
It depends on what kind of recap you get. If you get them from a cheap Chinese ran factory they will be junk. But a recap by Michelin or Bridgestone is just as good as a virgin tire. They have tens of millions of dollars invested into perfecting the recap process. Casings are xrayd and electrically charged looking for weak spots. And the final product is pressurized to 160 some psi before leaving the factory.
-
Oh and if like to add, i do not believe fur a moment that michelin or Bridgestone invested all that Mooney to help me save money. They did it so that they wouldn't end up in a court room hoping a jury doesnt award the plaintiff 50 million dollars cause some recap failed and killed her daughter.
-
Yeah I get the process.
I've paid damage claims for damage caused by a peeled Michelin, Bridgestone, Bandag, etal.
I'll stay with virgin tires on the power unit. -
I wouldn't be surprised if that was the primary reason for the intricate process retreading has developed to be.
The result is a better product then years ago.
I don't suggest anyone should use caps or virgin. I feel it's wrong to paint a whole segment of the tire industry with such a broad brush.
Even virgin steers fail. Friend of mine was pulled into the median just a few months ago. Lucky no one was passing him or he was on a 2 lane. -
Bottom line. If you maintain correct tire pressure at all times, any tire issues will decrease dramatically. Blow outs for the most part are tire neglect and curbing.
Banker, xsetra and spyder7723 Thank this. -
I put this system on my drives a year or so ago. Unlike the auto inflation system on the trailer each unit is self contained. It keeps each set of tires at the psi you want. Proper pressure is the key to tire longevity.
SLANT6, Terry270, spyder7723 and 1 other person Thank this. -
How much are they and who sells them?
