Ok, so after I attend the 8 day orientation at Ellenwood, I get assigned my trainer and we go on the road and do the job. At the end of the day I'm sure I'm going to have to sleep on the top bunk, or will I get the bottom bunk?

First, what is the weight rating on the top bunk in the sleepers?

Second, I'm hoping my trainer sees me at 6 feet 5 inches tall and 400 lbs and says that there is no way he wants to risk his life by sleeping under me in the bottom bunk. I mean, God forbid that the top bunk gives way in the middle of the night and then I have to explain to the dispatcher or FM that my trainer has been flattened.

And during the 8 day orientation, are there classes on the weekend or am I just stuck at the hotel for those two days? I'm going for the national van fleet.

You sure seem like an uplifting sort of guy ,lol.Anyway if the trk is in motion you will have to sleep on the bottom bunk. When you both are sitting, you'll have to discuss with your trainer who gets what bunk.I think under the circmstances your trainer will take the top bunk providing hes not big otherwise you both are going to have a problem. The top bunk is very cramp.Theres like a foot between the ceiling and bed and its one heck of a fall.I'm afraid you may have trouble getting up there.Maybe you can explain your situation to the instructor in orientation and find you a trainer that dont mind the top bunk.

If the trainer is doing it right, the above situation should never happen.

My students gets the top bunk. That is where all their storage is and if the truck is in motion, they are either in the passenger seat observing or in the driver's seat driving.

You will fit in the top bunk. I had a guy that was 6'6" and probably 300 lbs. he fit in the top bunk.

Thats correct. Trainers have to be in the jump seat while students are driving.

You'll get the top. My trainer told me he had a guy your size and he slept up top. I asked him if he was worried about him falling down on him and he said not really. It's pretty stable.

Did u not read 6'5" 400lbs? You must be a lot bigger than me. Even though I got more exp than the op if he wants the bottom bunk he can have it. His arm probably weighs more than my entire body. And I don't mean that disrespectfully or anything I'm just a small guy and my ### ain't fighting over the top bunk. With somebody that's bigger than I am lol.

Good luck driver just voice to your trainer that you would prefer the bottom bunk if he doesn't mind. Might get a decent guy that says okay no problem might get a jackwagon that says no way in hell. If that happens just bide your time and if he's as small as I am hope the top bunk breaks loose and falls on him at night:biggrin_2559:

Sorry when you're my size and complain about which bunk you have to get in get out of a fricken truck it ain't that hard to get up there. Key words being when you're my size.
