So, how much can those big rigs go? I saw on youtube in posts that some guy mentions 190 km/h(115mp/h or something like that). So, is that true? He says that a lot of us trucks can go that fast. I'm from Europe and most of european trucks have limiters on 85-90km/h (50-55mph). But even when they dont, they mostly can go 75mph-80mph...Rare ones can go 90+, but not over 100 mph...

Some companies will not lease an owner-operator tractor with excessive speed capabilities. One of my employers would jack up a wheel and count the drive line revolutions to determine drive axle ratio. Knowing this would be part of the pre-lease inspection, owner-operators would have different gears installed at Valley Equipment. Valley was very accommodating, charging only for the labor while the gears were on loan.

I guess if you have the gearing and the power to pull it you can have quite a high top speed.I'll give you a couple of examples.Super 13or18-.73 top gear and 3.55 on 11r24.5=102mph at 2100rpm. If you went to LP24 or 11R22 you would loose about 4 or 5 mph.I run a super 18,3.08 on LP24 and at 2100 it would be about 111mph.

Well, that 111mph is quite a speed...But can those trucks go over 2100 rpm? And what gearing have those "pimped" trucks? I saw somewhere Mack Titan with 3,36 and double over (i guess it's 0.7 in last gear)...truck had about 800hp.

BTW what are gears on these super 13 or 18? I mean, ratio in first and last gear?
Sorry for lame tenses, English is not really my native language :biggrin_25520:

The top gear on the super 13/18 is .73 .There are programs that can access higher RPMs,it seems Cats can easily go to 2300rpm and I have had DD's that would go to 2500.You need alot of HP to get to those top speeds and it is also dependant on how aerodynamic your combo is.What you think your truck does after the speedo runs out at 85 and what the reality is can be very different.

That RTXO would need to have a top gear of .5_?At .60 it comes out to 114mph.

    2100 x 60 = 126000 devided by .60 = 210000 devided by 3.70 = 56756.756 devided by 476(11r24.5 tires rounds per mile) = 119.23 MPH. truck had Harly 120 MPH speedometer, showed 118. do the math, sir
