I am looking for the approximate weight of a standard tractor without a sleeper cab and a standard dry 53 foot van. I was told 27,600 pounds and that seemed a little high to me.
    Thanks.

The trailer (a standard steel framed van) grosses around 15,000. The tractor is around another 26,000, give or take some. That gives about another 40,000 for the load itself without having any oversize permits.

I used to haul 48 k with a small sleeper and a van, Depending on the drive train, the tractor may be as little as 14k and change, almost 2 ton lighter than that flat top with the N-14.

27,600 would be the low end of tare weights achievable with a tandem day cab and 53 foot van.

My friend has a day cab with a 3406e and it weighs around 16000 by itself.

The tractor weighs 26,000 lbs. ????? Heck, we have oilfiled winch tractors that are lighter than that.

I thnk his must be made of stone because he's driving something prehistoric if he's also got a steel-framed dry van. :biggrin_25523:

Kinda what I was thinking, but hey, I don't know everything. :biggrin_25521:

My KW T800 with the 60" flat-top sleeper only weighs 17,245.
I've never pulled a box, so I can't say on the trailer.

Sorry guys. I thought we had some tractors where I worked that weighed about that... I never personally looked though. Its very possible I am the one who is wrong here.

    26K? I dont think so.

I always figure 15k for a 53 foot dry van.

Tractors vary. Tandem axle? Single axle? What size engine?

My old 92 Volvo single axle daycab weighed 14,200lbs with full tanks (75 gallons each)
