Im betting the 'mint' part is off a bit. I went up to Orlando last summer to look at a 98' 379 flat top for sale in "great" condition. What a waste of a day drive. I've seen equipment that spent 20 years in the salt mines with less corrosion.
Trade in program for old rig?

Any loan officer that would finance a 20+ year old piece of heavy equipment with 2,000,000 miles on it would probably find himself looking for a new job.Rideandrepair and Long FLD Thank this.

What's that new w9 worth when you get it paid off in 5 years, half if you're lucky? You buy a 98 with an overhaul for 40k today and drive it for 5 years and you can sell it for 40k again as long as you don't wreck it. You're paying a lot of money for the rights to say you're driving a new truck, just the way I see it. Think that 2020 does any better for mileage than a 98 with a Cummins?Kw Owners Club, Rideandrepair, Cabinover101 and 1 other person Thank this.

And financing a piece of equipment that's worth half it's original value by the end of the loan term is smarter how again?Rideandrepair, exhausted379 and Cabinover101 Thank this.

Has to get 7 to 8 easy.
Now the 98 for $40K ( with overhaul ) ( what's the unbelievable price of that overhaul?) So you're out of pocket $80K, on a truck with 2 million miles?
Rideandrepair and Cabinover101 Thank this. -
It's going to earn. It's going to hold it's value until the loan is paid off.
Romantic notions of flames coming out of the stacks have 0 to do with business decisions.Rideandrepair, Long FLD and Cabinover101 Thank this.
