Just got trailer ABS light come on on a trailer and dash.
On this 2016 Cascadia center pin in pigtail is always powered regardless of the ignition, so I can't even check the blink codes because turning on ignition on and off does nothing. Is there a way to have power on it with the ignition on only? That's should be the normal operation ether way, right? F11 Trailer ABS-IGN fuse is missing in a box under the hood. 20210811_144548.jpg

Put that fuse in, they may be using a 5 pin relay so if fuse fails, you get constant power even with ignition off

Unplug your pigtail. Three times in and out. Your ABS light on the trailer will flash the blink code.

    Rideandrepair and Snailexpress Thank this.

Then you have 2 seperate issues, 1 for truck and one for trailer, troubleshoot them seperately, trailer should be the easier one to trace and get working properly. Truck, lazy way would be run a new center hot and set it up with a relay to the ignition

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Yes, I know there is 2 different problems. At my previous job, in food service trucks, all of them had that middle pin under power at all times, so we can use inside trailer lights regardless of if ignition. So I thought there might be an easy switch over.

Will try to remove and insert R14 Trailer power fuse a few times when it'll get darker (can't see what's going on all the way back there in this broad daylight). Maybe that will trigger trailer ecm to flash me some codes.

Several time my trailer did the same. It's often corrosion on the contacts of a cheap crimp connector on the trailer some way. When the ABS light activates with brake pedal application the fault on my trailers is often a blown Trailer ABS fuse in the tractor fuse panel.

Theres sometimes a plug on the back/underneath of the trailer near the brake cans/axle that can come loose, and just needs plugged back in to fix the trailer ABS light issue.
