Hey guys, ive never had my equipment stolen. I have a yard i pay to park at that is supposed to have 24 hr surveillence. But today i get there and one of my trailers is gone. The yard security said he didnt see anything, and they are still going to look at the security camera footage.

Has this happened to anyone, how did you report it to the police? What was the process like? This pisses me off.

    Sorry to hear that man.

    No i haven't had a trailer stolen.

Tires, a radio, chains, and fuel, but never a truck or trailer. Report it stolen ASAP, and put the word out including a reward.

Couple weeks ago I pulled in to pick up a load at one of our regular places we go into and there was a police officer arresting a driver. He was hooked up to one of our trailers. Apparently he had just helped himself to it. Definitely put the word out. You’d be surprised how quickly someone will spot it.

Trailer tracking is your friend. I have 2 devise on my trailer that tracks it. You may find one but you wont find the second one. Make sure to report it right away to the cops. Like others have said post it everywhere you can and add a reward as well. Hopefully it was not a brand new trailer and you have the correct insurance coverage on it. The cost of trailers are still stupid high.

We were working a hot shot gig in the DFW metro area one time & we were staying weekly at a hotel in Irving. Had been parking my trailer in the back of the hotel for months each night. (no room to park truck & trailer together)
Got up one morning & the trailer was gone. Called the police & they asked for the license plate number. Gave it to them & they said it had been towed for illegal parking.
The property that the hotel manager said was their property... wasn't. It was city property right-of-way adjacent to the alley.

When I told the police that, they went in the hotel & chewed the manager a new one for telling me it was their property. He told the mgr to his face... unfortunately, there is nothing he could do, but if there was, he would have done whatever he could have, for getting my trailer towed. They tried to shame him into paying to get my trailer out of impound but to no avail.

Obviously, we cleaned out our room & went somewhere else for our duration of that gig.

Six hundred & some-odd dollars later, I got my trailer back.

Had something like that happen once too I took a trip with the pickup and gooseneck to pickup a new toy and had to separate the two to park and in the morning the trailer was gone because the night people at the hotel didn’t talk to the day people and decided it didn’t belong there.
I am surprised I stayed out of jail that morning because I went total ####### on the desk guy after having the run around for 15 minutes. Wish I had been more sensible looking back but I got a free night there for the way back because I wasn’t going to be able to get home after loosing several hours finding my trailer and they ate the towing bill. The worst part was my name a phone number were painted on the neck of the trailer…would have been really easy to inquire about what was going on
