Do they allow trainers to work in a regional fleet? Been thinking of looking into it, but I'm curious what the pros and cons are from those of you who've done it?

I used to train on the Great Lakes Regional fleet, sometimes I would take the student home with me, and put them in a motel, and sometimes I would hand them off to another trainer... I know there are some 7/7 guys that train also. Talk to your FM and then to Rodger, and see if it is something they will work with.

I did the 7/7 trainer thing for about eight years. I think it is one of the best deals out there in ORT. You can make enough money to live and actually have enough time at home to have a life. If you want to make more money you can do 14/7. I know there was some issues with the new training program and 7/7 trainers because they wanted the student just to have one trainer. It wouldn't be an issue with 14/7 though. If you live in NW IN I would check into one of these. Sometimes slip seating can be a pain but the home time was worth it for me. I never liked Midwest regional because I never got any long runs and was always dealing with Chicago.

I noticed that you are in NE IN not NW IN. Whatever, still close enough to Gary.

I don't know how the new training is working, I have been off since January. Adam has given me some of the details, but he said they would go over it with me when I get back sometime next month. I thought it was supposed to up and running at all the terminals by now, but it sounds like only Ellenwood is using it. Anyway good luck with whatever you end up doing.
