Would you think if I spoke with my recruiter about trying to start my career working in the bulk division with my "loll 0" experience OTR, so that I can have more home time? I have to go to medical this Monday, and then I will be scheduled for training. I'll be going regional she can't guarantee home time every weekend. I was hoping, but they prefer me to stay out at least 2 wks. To get 2 days off... I'm from Houston....

While they can't guarantee every weekend at home. They make more of an effort to get you there than 99% of companies I have worked for.

In 8 months of regional. I spent ONE weekend away from home, by choice.

Not sure how bulk would work in your area. But, I've seen requirements of 3 weeks out. Most of the guys I've spoken with in Houston, get home nightly. I'm sure there are those that don't.

Schneider offers a lot of different "deals". And can work with just about anyone's requirements. Of course it may vary depending on where you are and your experience.

    Packages offered by Schneider.

Regional, home weekly (34 hr reset)
OTR -- One day off for every 7 out.
Local or dedicated -- home nightly
Some dedicated require a night or 2 away from home.
    14 on 3 off
    4 on 4 off
    14 on 7 off
Name your schedule -- (requires a certain number of days out per month, 18 if I remember correct)

You can check availability at schneiderjobs.com

Where would a new Schneider driver out of Northeast Mississippi go for orientation training after CDL school?

Do they have regional training centers or is the orientation all done in WI?

You would go to West Memphis. Great bunch there IMO.

I'm currently in a community college program, will be done December 16th. I've thought about getting into trucking for over a year now. I joined this site quite a while ago and after researching a lot, figured Roehl was the best fit for me. The school I'm going to is approved by Schneider and I've been thinking maybe Schneider might be an option.

I'm in Rochester MN,. I-90 is only about 10 miles away. I know Roehl gets by here quite a bit, but I'm wondering if Schneider does. I'd like to spend a night at the house once in a while in addition to the hometime every couple of weeks. Like to hear the scoop fromn drivers and not recruiter BS.

    Any input would be appreciated.

Go to www.schneiderjobs.com and click on company drivers then click search and apply for jobs then click on MN on the map.I just did and it looks like a lot of options.
