APU starts up fine. Runs fine. Fan coil turns on and runs fine. Compressor goes to kick in, and that's all she wrote, shuts off.
I changed the fuel / water separator ( $32 ), but that had no effect.
So I've been at TK in Phoenix for the last 2 hours waiting my turn. I was told about a 4 hour wait, and I got here when they opened.
Not a bad waiting room though. Clean, comfortable, air conditioned, free coffee, Chinese delivery but $15 minimum. TV with cable.
Tri Pac has worked like a champ. Now it doesn't. Maybe bad relay or something.
Tri Pac is broke

Mine did the same thing recently. It was the alternator. Compressor would kick in and blow cold for a brief moment and it would shut off. Does your display tell you the code? Only way to be sure.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.

It says En & then a letter that looks like an upside down backward F.
Still waiting. -
Engine fault code....
Sometimes the wires going to the generator break at the back bottom of the APU...
If the compressor is seizing it will shut down...
Also if the high side valve is sensing to high of pressure it will shut down....
Is it killing the engine or just the compressor?? -
Never mind re read the quote so it is a major fault of it shuts off engine....
Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
Define major fault. Cause it's not like it was running bad, it worked like a champ. Now this also happened after these hatchet men did a PM on my truck. First time I tried to use it post PM, this happened, so I also was wondering if something isn't yanked loose.KB3MMX Thanks this.

When a freon line on mine had a hole in it it would shut down and throw an engine code. The TriPac has a lot of fail safes and if any one detect something wrong it shuts down. Maybe it will be something simple like that. I just had to get a charge of freon and a new line.
Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
Well it's in the service bay now.

If you're apu is out of warranty, and you do not have a "go to" mechanic .... I recommend the guys at Arizona Laser Alignment on 51st in Glendale. If you call ahead ... they can usually work you in without a huge wait. And ... even though I cannot say that service there is inexpensive. I can say I trust them a lot more than TK, and their pricing is far. I think TK has a mandate that whenever you step in their door you're bill will be at least $500 dollars.
KB3MMX, austinmike and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
That's good to know. I really had no clue where else to try besides TK.
