Normally when there is 1 or 2 trucks parked somewhere. It attracts more trucks. Now in the past there were some WM's with truck parking areas. But with the trucking ban I'm not sure if those stores allow parking still.
But sometimes event WM drivers are told to leave. Witch it shouldn't be, but some ppl seem not to know the difference between a WM truck and others. But the respect level of drivers tends to go down. When drivers leave pee bottles, trash bags, and sacks of s#!+ in buggies and across the lot. And also WM has a no idling policy on there property. Witch otr drivers dont adhere to.
The only real shortage in this industry are places to park. These new pilots and loves only have 50 spaces. And like a ppl have said in the past. The mega truck stops just want you to fuel, buy snacks and go. They aren't trucker friendly now a days. Adding to the parking shortage are rest areas. From 08-12 when states were trying to save money. Rest areas were closed, and ppl were laid off. Also adding to the issue when elogs started. The trucks stops start filling up at 2pm. So by the time I get there at 830, ain't no parking.
So that caused more and more ppl to park at WM. But it's kinda crazy because WM hasn't banned RV's and campere8from parking there. But it's there property so you have to abide by the rules are get booted and or towed now.
However while I was a WMT driver they only wanted us to park at the stores for layovers. And really didn't want trucks at the truck stop because of ppl backing it to your hood or damaging the side of the trailer. And some WM drivers hated it because the stores didn't have showers or TV rooms.Another Canadian driver, Rocks and mjd4277 Thank this. -
And as the article stated the driver went to the Pilot first to look for parking and it was full. I’ve been to that Pilot in Williamsburg and I’ve seen, trucks parked 4-5 across next to the entrance-in BROAD DAYLIGHT! And all I was doing was stopping to get fuel! The only other truck stops along that stretch of I-75 are the Love’s and Pilot up in Corbin,Kentucky and the T/A and Pilot down in Pioneer,Tennessee. Something’s got to give sooner or later.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.
