Heh I hear ya. The whole patriot act, homeland security, warrantless wire-tapping and other BS is just a huge overreaction. We had terrorist attacks from time to time before 9/11, we'd just send a tomahawk missile over and call it a day.

If this country were a patient undergoing psychiatric evaluation we'd be told we were suffering from paranoid schizophrenia.

Criminals don't obey laws, that's why they're called criminals.

Well theres a chance foreverthing. They shoud not, thats what the back ground check is about. Part of the punishment thing, felony losing your rights. That is what its about.

 

You could petition for a pardon...if it's a State crime, talk to your state rep or senator their pretty approachable compared to US ones..Most people don't bother after their sentence is done but if you've been upstanding citizen and can show it. I would give it a go..
