I can’t remember exactly how much. I got hazmat first and Twic later. I paid separately and went to 2 different locations. There was an option to pay together and get a discount but I cannot remember the details.

Nein. I think they knock a whopping $20 when you do the TWIC background if you already have HAZMAT. TWIC is 125 for a new applicant.

    Trucking in Tennessee Thanks this.

I currently do security and safety in a petrol chemical facility that closely works with the coast guard due to being along the water. In the next few years you will see more and more places requiring twic cards for entry.

The same contractor that does the hazmat background checks also does the TWIC checks, or at least did at one time. I have always thought the concept of TWIC was stupid and redundant. It is simply feel good we did something and solved a problem legislation. You are not going to keep things like gas tankers and other types of hazmat out of the reach of bad people. All a terrorist group has to do is hijack a truck. No matter how well armed the driver. Because the same rules apply for TWIC and Hazmat why do both? If I have a CDL with hazmat on it that hazmat should be the same as a TWIC card. Stupid duplication that just costs more money and does NOT in any way make us safer.

TSA can remotely turn off the twic cards... currently only a few sites have readers but come 2020 they will be required per the current pruposed TSA regulations.
