Never been to TX, but there are a few in ND and SD that are seasonal and closed most of the time.

Tx is to busy spending money else where. Wish more states were like TX and just defund the scale houses. :p

I was wondering if funds played a role in it.

Pennsylvania, now there is a state just going through the motions.

Texas only opens them on Blitz week. Though the scales on 35 between San Antonio and Laredo are routinely open. So is the WB scale on I30.

The one on us 59 Atlanta nb is open every weekday.

    -.- they take forever.

Been like that for over the past year.
The one around Fairfield is open frequently.

    Used to never be open.

Most of the scales there are not on any kind of a schedule. I often have seen a dot roll into a scale, turn on the light til he picks a truck then turn them back off again. Some of these places are really just for inspections as the only time they weigh is with portables. I do see the scales south of San Antonio on I35, near New Waverly on I45 and the Queen city(Atlanta) open a lot. The one sb on US59 by Lufkin has been open a lot lately too.
